Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands

Beatrix, queen of the Netherlands

I think Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands, is a hero. She has stated a great example for strong women, in an economy that is most of the time ruled by men. Being the oldest of tree girls, she became queen on the 30th of April 1980. When Beatrix was born she stated as a symbol for hope for a lot of people. It wasn’t long after she was born the World War 2 started. From the beginning she was queen she accomplished to have more involvement in the government than her mother did. The queen has studied law on the university of Leiden when she was still a princess. This was in a time that only few women went to university. School was for men. She also made a lot of state visits when she was still a princess and continued doing this when she became queen. Having a law degree and a lot of world knowledge her mother, queen Juliana, felt she was ready to become queen. On 31st of January queen Juliana spoke to the public that she would resign on the 30th of April and princess Beatrix would become queen. The public was very excited about this and showed great appreciation for Beatrix. As she showed a lot of interest in the public, which made her very popular Beatrix . I think Beatrix is a hero because she accomplished a lot in her life. She is resigning this April for her son Willem-Alexander to take over. She has been a sign of stability in the Netherlands in time of crisis, despair and sadness. She has been a great ruler but has still accomplished to be human. Her son has big footsteps to fill in.
